I met God in a prayer room.
Honestly.
Desperately.
With more questions than faith.
Meet Noelle Jones · Spiritual counselor and retreat facilitator in Henniker, NH
The Origin
I was in college in the middle of a crisis I thought I could handle on my own. One of my closest friends had died, and I was suddenly hit with intense grief from my past as well as many unanswered questions I'd just tried to push down for years. I grew up believing in the God of the Bible, but not really knowing Him. I only knew my distorted perception of Him or other people's version of Him. And when faced with a new type of suffering, it all collapsed.
A professor told me to just go be honest with God. I told him I didn't think I was allowed to do that. He said, "What do you have to lose?"
So I went to the prayer room in my dorm with everything I'd been holding back — grief, questions, doubts, sin. Over the weeks that followed, Jesus showed up. Not the distorted versions of Him. The real Him. He showed me who He actually is, and I was forever changed. I found the One I longed to know and needed desperately.
I couldn't stop going back. I'd finish class, finish swim practice, and get right to that prayer room nearly every night for hours.
That's where this started.
A series of yeses
How The Living Room started
The Living Room wasn't my idea. I was driving past a building with a restaurant for lease sign when I heard something in my spirit say: call the number. I ignored it for weeks. When I finally called, I told the owner I had no money and didn't want to open a restaurant. I asked if the space could be used for prayer. Surprisingly, he said yes. After a series of more “directions” in my spirit along with some timid and reluctant "yeses" from me, we eventually were led to this beautiful space in January of 2024. Everything was provided by the Lord, step by step, none of it planned. All of it Him.
Today The Living Room is an intentional prayer and retreat space at 48 Main Street in Henniker, New Hampshire. It’s a short walk from New England College, right beside the Contoocook River. It has four rooms, each set up a little differently…because people come here differently.
Who this is for
People come here for a lot of reasons.
Some have church hurt, but are still hungry for God. Some are pastors who don’t feel like they can be vulnerable at their own church and need somewhere apart. Some are followers of Jesus who want to grow in prayer, but don't know where to start. Some aren't sure what they believe, but sensed something pulling them in.
Wherever people are coming from, there is a space for them.

Training and credentials
Nothing you say will surprise me.
I want you to know that before you walk in. I've had my own struggles with prayer, doubt and wrestling with who God really is. I've experienced mental health challenges, addiction, and despair. I know what it feels like to not be able to connect with Him no matter how hard you try. And I know what it feels like when He finally breaks through.
I want other people to experience the same life-giving communion with our triune God.
There's nothing ever in my whole life that's been more satisfying.
Jesus walked me through my own inner healing journey. From there, I spent 10 years at a recovery ministry, counseling people and walking alongside them in their own struggles.
Let me walk with you.

A little more about Noelle Jones
I'm married to an exceptionally gracious man, a mom of three amazing kids, and a member of Hope Church right here in Henniker. I am part of the prayer ministry at my church and serve as Director of Network Support and Prayer with Vision New England.
I think people are beautiful and fascinating, and believe our differences should be honored and learned from. Though “hobbies” are a distant memory as a mom of 3 under the age of 8, I deeply enjoy a day with my feet in the sand and my eyes on the ocean, a delicious meal around a table surrounded by people, and a couple of quiet hours at a cozy coffee shop.
Growing the Work
This Fall 2026, Jaime McHale joins me at The Living Room. Jaime brings a background in Addiction counseling, and is working on a Certification in Spiritual Direction. She has a heart for making space for people to slow down and attend to their relationship with God. She is especially gifted at helping people through difficult seasons of doubt and grief.
